Map Linear cycles and backlog carefully
Moving Linear cycles, backlog and unprioritized work into superficially similar fields can change the meaning of a plan.
· 1 min read
How to apply it
Review source status categories and cycle dates together during Taskending migration. Keep backlog separate from ready-to-do work and no priority distinct from normal priority. Check active and future periods against team and project relationships.
A concrete example
Moving twenty backlog records into Todo suggests they are all ready for execution. Importing an active cycle as planned without checking actual usage can also hide the team’s current sprint.
What to watch for
Future cycles with no linked issues may not be discoverable from an issue list alone. Verify comments, parent relationships and labels separately. Do not assume Taskending’s team model is identical to Linear’s.
How to check the outcome
Compare status, priority, period and comment counts across representative keys. Test repeated import on rehearsal data to check for duplicates.
